Abstract
Data on inmate population and movements by commitment type are presented for each month from June 1993 through June 1994. Commitment types are felons, civil narcotic addicts, Youth Authority, county diagnostic, Safekeepers, and other State/Federal types. Data for these commitment types are distinguished by gender. Data for prison population movements are for the same months and address new admissions, parole returns, and the number released under various categories. Population numbers are presented as of June 1, 1994, and June 30, 1994, for the total of inmates received and released under various types of movements for felons, civil addicts, and "other." Data on the number of inmates by admission or return status are presented by institution as of June 30, 1994. Racial-ethnic distribution of inmates by institution encompasses white, black, Hispanic, and "other." Racial-ethnic distribution is also shown by commitment type and by level of institution. Data on parole population and movements are presented by commitment and movement type for inmates and parolees, covering each month from June 1993 through June 1994. Racial-ethnic distribution of parolees is also reported.
