Abstract
Developed as part of the Private Corrections Project at the University of Florida's Center for Studies in Criminology and Law, the bibliography covers the 1974-1994 timeframe. The more than 200 citations deal with economic and political aspects of privatizing corrections, prison management, the role of privatization in reducing prison overcrowding, the privatization of offender treatment, contracting out for human services, inmate rights, the privatization of punishment, and the impact of privatization on rehabilitation. The citations also concern private sector involvement in the remand system, public sector responsibilities in the privatization of corrections, prison industries, and legal dimensions of privatization.
