This Dutch Police Academy project reviewed the feasibility, establishment, and development of a multinational European Police Institute (EPI) based on the ideas of the "Single Europe Act."
Abstract
EPI aspects studied included the problems to be encountered, general organization, documentation and research, and financing of the organization. Details of the investigation methodology are discussed, and a possible model was constructed. The three main activities of the investigation were research, interviews in the Netherlands, and interviews in the countries of the European Community. Three task forces were established that resulted in three variations of organization. Overall results indicated that all parties involved supported the development of such an organization and that it should include courses, seminars, congresses, and even language courses. Major activities would include a multinational documentation center and research projects sponsorship. 8 appendixes
