Abstract
The authors attempt to promote discussion about the effects of each of the approaches as applied in practice in specific courts around the country. The first article reviews various approaches that courts have adopted to deal with drug cases. Three subsequent articles discuss court programs to process drug cases more rapidly and examine the long-term effects of speeding drug dispositions. The final set of articles deals with courts that emphasize drug treatment for offenders, exploring the implications of placing large number of offenders under court supervision for indeterminate treatment periods. 13 references
