Police Reported Crime Data in Canadian Municipalities

NCJ Number
152336
Date Published
1993
Length
52 pages
Annotation
This report presents statistics on incidents and selected offenses reported to the Canadian police in 1993 by jurisdictional population and municipal police agencies.
Abstract
The various police agencies are grouped according to the size ranges of jurisdictional populations. For each police agency, the population size served is indicated. All incidents reported to police (excluding traffic incidents) are shown by absolute number and rate, as are criminal code violations, crimes of violence, property crimes, "other crimes," Federal drug statute violations, other Federal statute violations, provincial statute violations, and violations of municipal bylaws. The report cautions that it is difficult to compare urban crime rates from this table, since all municipal police forces do not have jurisdiction over comparable urban environments.
