This report highlights the activities of the South African police during a watershed political year, 1993, and describes the strategic guidelines the force has adopted for implementation in the next three years.
Abstract
Goals to be emphasized under those guidelines include community safety, police legitimacy, police training, police attitude, optimal use of resources, adaptation to the new constitutional dispensation, and management and leadership skills development. This report focuses on efficiency services, personnel, training, finance, logistics, visible policing, community relations, internal stability, crime prevention and investigation, and administration. Operational statistics are presented for each of the South African police force's 10 regions.
