This report presents statistics on California inmates and parolees, their characteristics, and their movements into and out of institutions and parole during December 1994.
Abstract
California's institutions had a total of 117,390 male and 8,215 female inmates in December 1994, an increase of 5,020 from December 1993. A total of 10,616 inmates were received and 10,882 were released during the month. A total of 29.2 percent were white, 32.1 percent black, 33.8 percent Hispanic, and 5 percent of other races. California also had 81,360 male parolees and 8,249 female parolees in December 1994, an increase of 3,787 from the previous year. A total of 10,468 offenders entered parole and 9,170 left parole during the month. Tables and definitions
