This report profiles the structure and activities of the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) for fiscal year 1993- 94.
Abstract
The mission of the AIC is to conduct research; provide independent, expert advice; and disseminate statistics and other information on crime, crime prevention, and criminal justice, so as to contribute to the development of a safer and more harmonious society. During the period under review, the structure of the AIC continued with the five programs that were established in 1988: the Directorate, including administration; Research; Conferences; Library; and Publications. The activities for each of these five programs are described for the 1993-94 fiscal year. The research program encompasses crime prevention, drugs and substance abuse, environmental protection, indigenous and ethnic justice, juvenile justice, law enforcement, sentencing and courts, strategic crime assessment, offender treatment, victims, violence, white-collar and corporate crime, and women and crime. Financial statements are included, along with appended lists of publications issued from July 1, 1993, to June 30, 1994; other publications; papers to conferences, commissions, and meetings; and the staff of the AIC as of June 30, 1994.
