The volume covers the law regarding arrest; custody; the use of force; search; prisoner processing; evidence; confessions, testimony; and the handling of specific forms of illegal behavior such as assault, larceny, burglary, arson, and violence. The first three chapters parallel the 8-hour preemployment training required in New York State. The other 11 chapters are relevant to the 16-hour course, the firearms course, and the 8-hour inservice course. They cover penal law, laws related to the use of firearms or other methods involving force, espionage, sabotage and terrorism, and acts or omissions that security officers must avoid or experience the potential consequence of criminal charges.
