Analyses of violence as a societal phenomenon discuss the motivation of violent behavior cross-culturally, crime in different geographical regions of the United States, and a survey instrument to measure attitudes toward terrorism. Papers on violence committed by and against juveniles examine family conflict and childrearing practices that may be precursors to later aggression by and among youth, the psychological impacts of child abuse, child abuse treatment for the victim and family and punishment for the perpetrator, school violence in several countries, and juvenile sentencing and juvenile capital punishment.
