Developments associated with the use of video arraignments in Cumberland County, Maine, courts and jails are reviewed.
Abstract
Developments are traced for the 1992-1995 period that involved a demonstration survey, evaluation of closed circuit television in a Florida district court, letters and briefing papers on criminal rules and procedures, media involvement, the establishment of a process for videotape use in county courts and jails, and the submission of a video system proposal for evaluation by the State Justice Institute. Additional information is appended on the literature search of jail/court video systems, as well as system acquisition documents.
