Abstract
SAVE represents a long-range, proactive approach and reaches both elementary and secondary schools. It teaches conflict resolution and peer mediation, presents skits depicting common situations that could lead to violence and how to resolve them, and uses media interviews to spread its message. With the help of the North Carolina Center for the Prevention of School Violence, SAVE chapters have been established in at least four States. In schools with chapters, violent incidents and the number of students reported to have brought weapons to school has declined.
