Data from the revised Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Survey are presented.
Abstract
This report represents the first release of data from the revised, as opposed to the current, UCR Survey. The intent of this report is to: describe the limitations of the current UCR Survey; outline the history of the development and implementation of the revised UCR Survey; and to provide practical examples of the analytical potential of the information content of the revised survey. Figures are based solely on data submitted by the first four police respondents to provide incident-based data to the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics. These data are provided only for the purpose of demonstrating the analytical potential of the new survey, and is not indicative of any national or provincial trends. Violent crime and its victims, property crime, and accused profiles are provided. A brief history of the UCR Survey, the limitations of the current UCR Survey, and the development and implementation of the revised UCR Survey are discussed. Chapter 3 of what appears to be a related article presents revised UCR Survey highlights for 1993.
