Abstract
The first section defines the nature and extent of racism and prejudice, as well as typical victim characteristics. The second section identifies the major players in the far-right white supremacist movement in the U.S., focusing on traditional anti- black and anti-Semitic organizations, youth-oriented hate groups, and organizations associated with the Identity Church that use theological justification for their activities. The section on responses discusses legislative issues, legal remedies, responses by religious institutions, campus and youth issues, responses to the rural radical right, workplace responses, Indian issues, government agency responses, media coverage, and police activity. The final section lists resources to use when countering hate activity.
