Abstract
Brochures in this packet contain information on the National Public Telecomputing Network known as FreeNets, and how to join. By forging alliances with the FreeNets, citizens have the opportunity to build both strong national and local substance abuse networks. There are also instructions on how to obtain Internet access via commercial providers, and a list of Internet Access Providers. Join Together Online has two parts, an electronic substance abuse resource center and a nationwide electronic mail exchange that links community leaders working in the substance abuse field. This Kit contains: (1) a description of Join Together Online; (2) a guide to evaluate access options; (3) a list of current users and examples of how they benefit from Join Together Online; (4) free software and a trial offer from America Online, one of the networks through which to access Join Together Online; (5) a brochure describing HandsNet, another access network; (6) a list of other access networks; and (7) a list of what is needed to get started and costs involved.
