Developed by the Family Violence Project of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), this national curriculum is designed to present the NCJFCJ's Model Code on Domestic and Family Violence.
Abstract
The curriculum and the training process are intended to develop national training capacity in domestic and family violence, based on the Model Code. Training incorporated in the curriculum has cognitive, behavior, and attitudinal objectives and attempts to address the social change agenda in a lasting way. The curriculum contains background articles and information on family violence, the Model Code, and legislative issues. The articles summarize the dynamics of family violence and provisions of the Model Code. Instructional methods are described to facilitate effective teaching and speaking, with a focus on adult education. Team teaching techniques and train the trainer strategies are emphasized. Guidance is offered on how to organize various presentations, and supplementary materials are included to encourage trainer interaction with trainees.
