Following an outline of orientation sessions, 18 educational sessions are presented. The orientation meeting includes the passing out of handouts that address client rights, project services, program topics, protection plan worksheet, intake form, and the business office form. Orientation also includes an intake assessment. For each of the subsequent sessions, the purpose of the session is stated, followed by an outline of the session's content and handouts. The first session focuses on guidelines for work with battered women and the philosophy of the Domestic Abuse Project. Session 2 addresses the most violent incident. Relating the most violent incident tends to break down the feelings of shame and isolation battered women often experience. Session 3 encompasses the myths, causes and definitions of violence. Topics of other sessions are the progression of violence, what keeps women in the relationship, survival skills, protection planning, midterm feedback, the culture of origin and personal empowerment plan, anger, assertiveness/communication, advocacy, therapist exchange, and open and closure sessions.
