Following an introduction that reviews various studies and perspectives of sexual harassment of women in the workplace, 10 chapters consider sexual harassment in various occupations. Generally, a chapter examines one occupation. The occupations discussed are indentured servants, serfs, and slaves; domestic servants; industrial workers in the 1800's; strikes and trade unions; industrial workers in the 1900's; the trades and blue- collar workers; clerical workers; serving and nurturing roles; wartime work and the military; and professional women. Another chapter focuses on sexual harassment perpetrated by political figures. Laws designed to combat sexual harassment and surveys intended to identify the prevalence of sexual harassment are discussed in one chapter, followed by the final chapter, which assesses how effectively laws have been administered and implemented to punish and deter sexual harassment in the workplace.
