Abstract
The volume is also intended for use by clients and other concerned individuals. The text provides background information on child sexual abuse and its impacts, presents a four-stage theoretical model for therapeutic intervention, and details treatment techniques. It provides information to enable the therapist to accurately diagnose the occurrence of childhood sexual abuse and conceptualize the effects of family, stage of development, and spirituality on the victim. It examines the issue of ego splitting; provides case studies; and uses fairy tales, current popular novels, and mainstream literature to demonstrate how numerous metaphors for abuse are presented in everyday life. Historical and sociocultural perspectives on the treatment of women and children are also provided. Figures, index, and 101 references
