Abstract
Witnesses included representatives of the Department of Defense and the Human Resources Management Divisions of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and U.S. Marine Corps. These witnesses discussed measures taken by various branches of the armed services to combat drug and alcohol abuse among their ranks, and emphasized the need for a multifaceted approach comprised of innovative programs in education, research, training, law enforcement, treatment, rehabilitation, and information dissemination. 34 tables
