The author discusses contemporary problems of accountability for corporate crime, and the relationship between individualism and corporate conduct and responsibility. The book outlines five different approaches to enterprise liability and examines underlying assumptions regarding deterrence and economic modeling. Following an analysis of several models based on organization theory, the book outlines an alternative model for allocating responsibility for corporate crime. The model is assessed in terms of its capability to impose responsibility on all responsible actors, safeguard individual interests, control scapegoating, apply the law equally, reflect the diverse aims of the criminal justice system, and cope with the dynamics of corporate behavior.
