Data were collected over a period of 6 months from the local housing authority, police, and an advocacy group for homeless families. The results showed that the victims of multiple violent crimes committed in the project were Bengali and Somali. The report describes the main research findings on the extent and impact of racially motivated attacks, the British statutory agencies' procedures to investigate racial incidents, and current expert opinion on reducing racial harassment. The report also discusses several existing strategies to reduce racial violence, and outlines a proposed crime prevention program that would aim to protect multiple victims from repeat attacks, develop an interagency strategy to reduce attacks through prevention and identification of offenders, encourage victims to report crimes to police, and improve police investigation of these incidents. 2 tables, 3 figures, and 42 references
