Title: Criminal Prosecution, 1992
Date Published: 1995
Annotation: This collection, which has been maintained for over 100 years, publishes statistics on individuals brought to trial in the courts of the former West Germany in 1992.
Abstract: Corresponding statistics for the five states of the former East Germany are not yet available. The first section categorizes all individuals sentenced in each German state according to their age at the time of offense. The second section classifies the same population according to the offense committed. The following sections show what type of prison terms were imposed for particular offenses for both adults and juveniles. A separate section is devoted to alternative or additional penalties such as fines or the loss of the driver's license; offenders who had received pretrial detention are categorized according to the offense type committed. Additional sections report on previous convictions and the nationality of those brought to trial. The final section focuses on offenders who committed crimes against children. A detailed list of all offenses prosecuted in 1992 and of the corresponding paragraphs in the Criminal Code is appended.
