The Slick Boys, three young undercover Chicago police officers working within the Chicago Housing Authority Complexes, use rap music and straight talk question and answer sessions to show young people how they can rise above a life of crime. With this unique presentation style they address children, teenagers, young adults, and parents, creating bonds of trust and understanding. Their innovative approach helps to promote respect for oneself, family, and community. Included in the document are: (1) commendation for The Slick Boys from the Illinois House of Representatives; (2) commendations from the Mayor of Chicago; (3) press clippings about the group; (4) biographical data about each man; (5) accomplishments and achievements of the three men; and (6) letters of appreciation from groups who heard the Slick Boys' presentation. The videotapes contain excerpts of the group's presentation, special segments about them on Chicago-area and national television programs (Turning Point, Jerry Springer), and a personal appearance by the men on Oprah Winfrey.
