This document describes the seminars, technical assistance, and other training services available from the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Academy through an interagency agreement with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
Abstract
Seminar topics include correctional leadership development, executive training for new facility directors, executive training for new chief executive officers of juvenile agencies, public and media relations, the management of violent and disruptive juvenile offenders, services and programs for female juvenile offenders, and evaluation and accountability strategies for juvenile correctional programs. The seminars are open to juvenile detention and corrections personnel, who must obtain the endorsement of the agency administrator. Most of the seminars are conducted in Longmont, Colo. The seminars are limited to 24 participants, who are required to live at the training site. No registration, tuition, or materials fees are charged. Other sections of the manual describe the training regionalization efforts and conducts audioconferences and videoconferences supported and conducted by the NIC Academy.
