The selections come from the thousands of materials available in the database of the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information. Although the bibliography may not be comprehensive, it provides a sample of relevant and recent (1990's) publications that include journal articles, books, research reports, and training curricula. Although many references cover more than one subject area, each citation is listed only once in the bibliography, primarily under its major subject headings; a total of 77 listings are provided. All documents in the bibliography are contained in the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information. Access to the database is available through CANnet and CD-ROM. In addition, Clearinghouse staff are available to conduct customized database searches for professionals. The staff guides users in selecting materials from this bibliography and suggest other materials and periodicals that may be useful.
