Abstract
There is much debate about the success or failure of the current public antidrug control policy throughout the State and country, a policy that puts law enforcement at the center of the effort. Data presented in this document were compiled from local and State data systems and various surveys. Findings suggest that little progress has been made in the effort to eliminate the State's drug problems. The report includes a summary and detailed discussion of each of the following topics: (1) Illegal Drugs and the Health of Users; (2) Illegal Drug Use and Perceptions Among Youth and Young Adults; (3) Drug Control Policy and the Criminal Justice System; (4) Measures of Illicit Drug Prevalence; (5) The Drugs and Violence Nexus; (6) Illegal Drugs in Business, Industry and Housing; and (7) Public Opinion and Community Anti-Drug Activities.
