The 6,870 juvenile arrests involved 5,156 males and 1,714 females. The arrests involved 547 youths ages 10-12 years, 1,621 ages 13-14, 3,006 ages 15-17, and 1,696 age 17. The arrests involved 5,847 white youths, 1,016 black youths, and seven youths of other races. Larceny arrests were the most common for male juveniles and involved 1,102 arrests of males. Six juveniles were arrested for murder. No juveniles were arrested for manslaughter. Eight juveniles were arrested for forcible rape. Eighty-four were arrested for felonious assault. Profit-motivated offenses were involved in 2,524 arrests. The arrests also included 307 for drug law offenses, 72 for driving under the influence, 196 for liquor law violations, and 230 for drunkenness.
