Conference objectives were to encourage interbranch strategic planning and joint venturing to foster communication and a common purpose with regard to State court resources; to increase the awareness of government officials and the public about State court resource needs; and to encourage innovative approaches to meeting State court resource needs, more effective use of existing resources, and more reliable and specific ways of measuring operational needs of State courts. Held in September 1995, the conference was attended by 317 people. Conference participants discussed State court financing according to eight topics: interbranch relations in financial matters, improved court management, changing court roles and functions and financial implications, State court funding sources, fine and fee collection by State courts, court budgeting improvements, technology and facilities as major change factors in State court financing, and courts and the public.
