The trial courts continued to experience record case filings. The courts also experienced an 8-percent increase in probate filings and small claims actions, a relatively constant number of divorce petitions, a 30-percent increase in filings of juvenile cases, an 8-percent increase in felony criminal filings, and a 4-percent increase in Class I misdemeanor filings. During the year 17,053 people were in some type of court-sponsored supervision program, including adult or juvenile probation, juvenile diversion, the adult 90-day case monitoring program, and the juvenile case monitoring program. The 70 court services officers assigned to local court-sponsored supervision programs handled an average of 243 cases during the year. Each case cost about 52 cents per day, compared to $37.47 at the State penitentiary or $81.77 at the Youth Forestry Camp. Figures, table, and photograph
