This report presents information and statistics pertinent to the activities and operations of the more than 3,000 Texas courts for the fiscal year ended August 31, 1995.
Abstract
Following a listing of the Texas Judicial Council Membership, information is provided on the structure and operation of the judicial branch. This encompasses profiles of appellate and trial judges, statutes of the Office of Court Administration and the Texas Judicial Council, jurisdiction, appropriations, and supplemental compensation of justices and judges. Reports of judicial agencies include presentations by the Texas Judicial Council and the Office of Court Administration. The section on judicial ethics and conduct contains advisory opinions on judicial ethics issued by the Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas. A court activity overview addresses Texas court activity for the year ended August 31, 1995 and a summary of reported court activity for fiscal years 1986-95. Information and statistical data on case processing and judges are presented for the Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeals, courts of appeals, administrative judicial regions, district courts, county-level courts, district and county-level activity in juvenile matters, justice of the peace courts, and municipal courts. Also presented is a summary of the reported activity of alternative dispute resolution centers for the year ended August 31, 1995.
