This videotape and trainer's manual are intended to help managers and supervisors understand the nature of sexual harassment, common workplace policies on sexual harassment, and how best to work with the policies of their organizations.
Abstract
The training program requires 2 hours and 45 minutes and is recommended for a group of 10-20 participants. It is recommended that the group have equal numbers of males and females. The videotape presents and explains vignettes that dramatize common situations that involve sexual harassment. It notes that managers should assume that sexual harassment exists in their organization, that the resulting poor morale and low productivity cost much more than the potential lawsuits, and that 90 percent of harassment cases involve female victims and male offenders. A technical fact sheet notes that the organization's sexual harassment policy is typically included in the employee manual and posted throughout the workplace. It includes the definition of sexual harassment; a statement the organization will not tolerate any form of sexual harassment; instructions on how, where, and with whom a person can file a sexual harassment complaint; a statement of the actions to be taken to investigate the complaint and assist the victim; and a list of possible penalties for the offenders.
