Abstract
In 1992 the U.S. Department of Labor published "Dilemmas in Youth Employment Programming," a two-volume set of 10 papers that reviewed the state of knowledge regarding policy and practice in the youth training and employment field. As part of that work, Public/Private Ventures developed a bibliography of the research materials that the authors of the 10 papers reviewed. The bibliographic listings are grouped under three broad headings that reflect the kinds of policy decisions the Department of Labor faced in its short-term and long-term efforts to set national directions in the area of youth employment. The three headings are "Programs, Services, and Techniques," "Program Governance and Management," and "Youth and the Labor Market." The literature reviewed in the 10 papers goes back some 15 years, with an emphasis on the last 5 years. Thus, the listing is reasonably complete through 1992. Most of the nearly 900 entries are unique, and they reflect a broad-based knowledge about youth unemployment and its causes. Appended summary of the contents of the 10 papers, along with their authors
