This textbook discusses theories of crime and delinquency from a sociological perspective, and theoretical and empirical research is presented to elaborate on the core theories.
Abstract
The textbook is organized according to nine chapters. The first three chapters address criminology and social deviance, theoretical and methodological issues in criminology, and ecological theories of crime and delinquency. The next three chapters cover anomie and social deviance (strain theories), differential association (learning theories), and control theories of crime and delinquency. The final three chapters discuss social reactions to crime, conflict and radical perspectives on crime, and recent developments in the sociology of crime. 358 references
