Abstract
The articles in this volume are presented in four sections: Research in Brief, Outcomes, Intervention, and Perspectives. The individual articles concern: (1) whether falling crime rates and increased use of probation have reduced prison incarceration; (2) highlights in the history of day parole; (3) Federal offenders on conditional release; (4) reoffending rates for parolees and non-parolees; (5) Federal trends and outcomes in conditional release; (6) effects of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act; (7) success rates of female substance-abusing and non-abusing offenders on discretionary versus statutory release; (8) preparing reports for parole decisions; (9) how the work release program is used and for what purposes; (10) forging a link between institutional and community-based treatment services; (11) a Federal parole officer's perspective on conditional release; (12) a strategy for community corrections; and (13) community reactions to the new prison for women in Kitchener. Figures, tables, notes
