Abstract
Three chapters on crime prevention emphasize the importance of focusing on crime prevention in the development of a security program. Four chapters on security personnel consider such issues as how to keep CCTV (closed-circuit television) watchers alert, women in the security industry, the role of the security supervisor, and skill-based compensation programs. Two chapters on security system design are followed by three chapters that address issues in CCTV's role in a security system. Four chapters on the planning of a security program consider the design of protection systems, the place of security in the corporate agenda, facility managers' role in security, and contract security services. Aspects of security-related investigations are examined in five chapters, followed by two chapters on industrial espionage. Two chapters on workplace responsibilities address how to deal with a violent employee and the investigation of sexual harassment. Remaining sections of the book contain chapters on retail loss prevention, health care security, campus security, the protection of art treasures, understanding gangs, fire prevention, and computer security.
