The paper describes the therapeutic approach used with four male Asian sexual offenders and identifies clinical themes arising from their treatment. It also discusses issues and difficulties in therapy, in particular personal issues arising for the therapists. Asian sexual offenders as a group have been neglected in the literature and in treatment, partly, perhaps, because they are infrequently referred to treatment services in comparison with non-Asian sexual offenders. Relatively little is known about cultural differences among sex offenders and there is even less evidence concerning treatment for sex offenders from ethnic minority groups. The article raises particular therapeutic issues relating to the treatment of immigrant Asians who do not speak English and identifies further research needs in relation to that patient group.
