During 1998-99, the NCFV responded to many thousands of Canadians, providing information on violence against children, women, and older adults. The NCFV supplied informational materials and referrals upon request; launched targeted mailings of selected materials to key stakeholders; exhibited resource materials at conferences and workshops; offered Canadians opportunities to view exemplary videos through the joint Health Canada/National Film Board of Canada family violence prevention audiovisual collection; and promoted the services and products of the NCFV in articles and regular columns in journals and newsletters. During 1998-99, the NCFV collaborated with the 200 Canadian resource centers and nongovernmental and governmental organizations concerned with family violence prevention through information exchange and joint activities. For the first time, a biannual newsletter, "Sharing Information and Solutions," has been instituted in a continuing effort to improve access to services and publications. The NCFV has acquired a series of new resource materials for distribution, adding 15 new titles to the family violence prevention audiovisual collection to be used for public awareness and education, as well as for the training of frontline workers.
