Abstract
The report presents data in the following categories: (1) Mission & Values; (2) Organization; (3) Chief of Police (Chief’s Message, Organizational Structure & Chart); (4) Administrative Subdivision; (5) Investigative Subdivision; (6) Patrol East Subdivision; (7) Patrol West Subdivision; (8) Support Services Subdivision; (9) C.A.L.E.A. (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc) Accreditation (The Columbus Division of Police was recognized as an accredited law enforcement agency for a period of 3 years); (10) 1999 Division Highlights; (11) In Memoriam; (12) Personnel; (13) Finance; and (14) Statistics (Offenses, Arrests, Traffic). Highlights for 1999 included the accreditation of the Crime Laboratory within the Division’s Detective Bureau. The crime laboratory became only the second in Ohio to be recognized by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board. In addition, the Division took delivery of three Mobile Police Stations; began a proactive approach to combating student violence; hosted a visit from the Dresden Police choir from Columbus’s sister city of Dresden, Germany; and continued updating their Systems Management and Records Technology project.
