This report presents summary statistics on felon prisoners and parolees, civil narcotic addict inpatients and outpatients and other populations under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Corrections (CDC), 1997 and 1998.
Abstract
The report is organized in seven sections containing information on different populations under CDC jurisdiction: (1) CDC Population; (2) Institution Population; (3) Behavior of Inmates in Institutions; (4) Felon New Admissions; (5) Parole Violators Returned With a New Term; (6) Parole Violators Returned to Custody; and (7) Parole and Outpatient Population. An eighth section contains Institution Acronyms, Names and Locations; County and Area of Commitment Map; County and Region of Parole Map; and Glossary of Terms and Acronyms. The CDC administered 33 prisons, 2 detention centers, 4 parole regions and 38 camps during 1998. The types of commitments received by CDC were felons, civil narcotic addicts, county diagnostic cases, some Youth Authority commitments, Federal prisoners and prisoners from other States.
