The chapters present current, previously unpublished research articles by criminologists studying and researching in the area of international criminal justice. The book expands the subject matter of international criminal justice. Topics such as political corruption, state-funded terrorism, state-organized crime, electoral corruption, victimization theory in a postmaterialist world, and transnational crime, which are not usually topics of international criminal justice books, compose significant portions of this book. There are also a number of more traditional chapters that address drug issues and policy, domestic violence, nuclear proliferation, money laundering, general criminal justice policy, policing, incorporating Islamic law into western legal practice, juvenile justice and delinquency, shaming as punishment, correctional systems, capital punishment, treatment programs, gun control policy, victim-offender mediation, and women's contact with police. Chapters range from straightforward research studies that are organized along the lines of basic introduction, methodology, findings, and discussion sections to more theoretical examinations of closely related subjects.
