The presenters are from Agnes Stewart Middle School in Oregon. One portrays a new student who arrives for his first day at the school. Other students explain to him that the school rules forbid hats, chewing gum, and dumping trash on the floor. New students sign in at the Student Reception Center, where they also sign in if they arrive late or if they need to see the school nurse, a counselor, or the assistant principle. A graphic called the Circle of Courage depicts the school’s philosophy and the four principles of belonging, generosity, independence, and mastery. The school’s basic rules are to follow all directions of adults, respect other people and property, be on time, and stay on task. Other rules are to sit with the body in the chair and feet on the ground, stand in line in the cafeteria, keep all food and drinks inside the cafeteria, and line up to board the bus after school. Students receive a pawprint slip when they do something good; a periodic drawing from a bin in the cafeteria determines the pawprint of the student to receive a prize.
