Abstract
The first chapter of the text focuses on policing and administration and services as the foundation builder. It briefly discusses the role of policing in society and the importance of administration, organization, and management as they apply to the police organization. Remaining chapters of the text look at police organization and management in terms of organizational theory and concepts, management theories and styles, leadership, planning, staffing, decision-making, communicating, information management, budgeting and fiscal responsibilities, accountability, and liability. The text combines theory and practice in a way designed to help students understand all ramifications of the issues at hand.
