Volume I of the Compendium consists of three parts. Part 1 introduces the initiative and purpose of the Compendium, outlines various definitions of correctional programs, summarizes a contribution that situates correctional programs within the context of criminal justice sanctions, and presents articles on treatment responsivity and treatment resistance. Part 2 provides up-to-date overviews of the treatment literature for specific program areas. Part 3 provides evaluation guidelines for criminal justice policymakers, correctional administrators and program staff. In Volume II, Part 4 presents the results of a survey of jurisdictions regarding their correctional programs. The survey incorporated program descriptions; development and evaluation; assessments of treatment need; and outcome and/or financial data. Part 5 invited the same jurisdictions to submit specific programs that they wished to highlight as a best practice. Notes
