The 2001 Fiscal Report for the Washington State Department of Corrections, Institutions, Pre-Release and Work Release provides detailed data on the Department’s inmate population.
Abstract
The report offers an analysis of the State of Washington’s Department of Corrections’ inmate population by institution and pre-release and work release programs. The report is broken down into six areas: population; characteristics of resident inmates; admissions to prison; releases from prison, custody distributions of resident inmates; and risk level categories of resident inmates. Population looks at the average daily by rated capacity by month, female average daily by rated capacity by month, average daily per month by facility. Characteristics of inmates provided data on distribution of location by race and Hispanic origin, offense, violent crime convictions, age, sentencing authority, race and Hispanic origin for females, county of conviction and offense by race and Hispanic origin. Admissions to prison provided data on admission and release comparisons and admissions by month, type, and sex, admission type and county of convictions, age at admission, race, and Hispanic origin, and sex, admissions by county of conviction, race, and Hispanic origin, and admissions by offense and type of admission. Releases from prison provided data on releases by month and type, and length of stay. Custody distributions looked at current custody and initial custody data. Risk level categories of inmates provided data on distribution of location by risk level and risk level by race and sex. Glossary and abbreviations.
