This videotape and accompanying lesson plan, developed by Seattle Public Utilities, describes an art program that is designed as a constructive alternative to graffiti and malicious spray painting.
Abstract
The videotape emphasizes the importance of making the right choices and indicates young people should consider other alternatives to graffiti which is a crime. Programs are described, referred to as ArtWorks and Panels for Progress, that are designed to encourage young people to take control of their lives, make good choices, and provide a substitute for vandalism. A telephone number in Seattle (206-292-4142) is given to call for further information on the legitimate art programs. The accompanying lesson plan lists objectives and materials needed, as well as discussion points and questions.
