This survey attempted to account for feelings of security or insecurity in one's residence, the experiences of victimization that may have been reported by the respondents, and respondents' individual characteristics, together with their type of residence. The latter indicator took into account ease of access to shops and amenities, as well as various nuisance factors such as noise pollution or disagreeable smells. The results indicate that once the effects of victimization and respondent individual characteristics have been taken into account, environmental factors remain a significant factor in respondents' feelings of insecurity. 9 tables and 2 references
