This report describes the organization, activities, and accomplishments of the Rockford, IL, Police Department during 2000.
Abstract
The police chief’s message notes that the agency had 292 police officers and 36 support staff. The agency received 181,144 calls for service, an increase of 2.41 percent from 1999. A total of 12,549 calls involved Part I crimes, a decrease of 4.88 percent from the previous year. These reported crimes included 13 homicides, 133 aggravated criminal sexual assaults, 505 robberies, 693 aggravated assaults, 2,458 burglaries, 7,878 burglary to vehicle and theft, and 869 vehicle thefts. The agency cleared 24.14 percent of the Part I crimes.
