In this report, the Thames Valley Police describe their activities and initiatives for the year 1999–2000. According to the report, the main goal of the Thames Valley Police is to cooperate with communities to reduce crime, disorder, and fear. The Thames Valley Police was founded in 1968 and is one of the largest police forces in Britain, with almost 3,800 police officers and 2,000 civilian staff members. They are responsible for a total area of 2,200 square miles and approximately 2.1 million citizens. The Thames Valley Police are also responsible for the largest stretch of motorways in Britain and for the safety of approximately 6 million tourists each year.
