A DVD video and a CD-ROM show lab, volunteer, and actual field uses of the Advanced Taser M26 gun, which disrupts the nervous system and causes physical incapacitation, along with training materials on the technical specifications and uses of the taser gun.
Abstract
The Advanced Taser M26 gun is demonstrated to be a quick, safe, and effective “less-lethal” means of incapacitating aggressive, violent, and resisting persons encountered by patrol officers. Whereas less-lethal weapons such as batons and pepper spray require limited effective ranges, the Advanced Taser can deliver its incapacitative effect from 21 feet. Its Electro-Muscular Disruption Technology ensures an uncontrollable contraction of the muscle tissue, which physically debilitates a person regardless of pain tolerance or mental focus. The incapacitation rate in volunteer studies with over 3,000 elite volunteers from SWAT teams, military special forces, and police agencies is over 99 percent. These studies are shown on video on the CD-ROM. Although painful when in action, there are no after effects when taser use is terminated. The benefits of the Advanced Taser are indicated to be increased officer safety and a decreased risk of use-of-force liability for the department. It is recommended that all patrol officers in an agency be supplied with a taser. Computer-aided training in the use of the Advanced Taser is provided on the CD-ROM.
